BC Slave Keeper Goes To Court

Dwelling in the name of Mumtaz Ladha; 55; who has been charged with human trafficking. She is alleged to have hired a 21-year-old African woman and forced her to work 18 hours a day seven days a week and took possession of her passport.
A West Vancouver woman is set to appear before a judge at 9 a.m. on Monday.
Mumtaz Ladha is accused of keeping a 21-year-old woman as a slave in her West Vancouver home. The 55-year-old has been charged with human trafficking and human smuggling after she allegedly recruited the woman from Africa to work in a hair salon in Vancouver.
Instead, police say Ladha forced the woman to work in her home seven-days-a-week, for no pay.
She was arrested on July 19 when she returned to Vancouver from an African country.
