British Muslims need to be treated humanely and decently. So many of them are full of promise, ability and a desire for fulfilment in their lives on the glorious British Isles.
We must use both strong measures and compassion to integrate new immigrants and their offspring so that they can fulfill their potential.
We must now begin the necessary measures of assimilation to fight the decades of damage multiculturalism has done to our national identity, by segregating and isolating immigrants.
How should Muslim pupils be integrated into British schools?
However, compassion must not blind us into being afraid of using measures such as compulsory teaching of British history - including that of Empire - and historical, time old, British culture up to the maximum school leaving age for all children.
This must be proposed in such a fervent manner that it becomes an obvious non-sequitur, to end all discussions for what is the appropriate cultural paradigm for these Isles, not a subject that raises any controversy.
This compulsory teaching of British Culture should include a clear outline of the Judeo-Christian heritage of the British Isles, the spirit of freedom in the common-law, and the value of free-speech and toleration.
All young folk should know their fundamental history, including the difficulties faced in the journey from the Privy Council to modern Parliament; and who Churchill and Nelson were.
It is sad that most American children know their constitution, but most British children do not know the fundamental rights long held in the common-law such as Habeas Corpus, nor important constitutional settlements such as the 1689 Bill of Rights.
Most of all they should be actively taught to love their country, and that patriotism and nationalism are good things.
This is the only way to ensure all the opportunities of our society are open to British Muslims and other immigrants. They must be compulsorily assimilated in order to reap the benefits of what our country has to, culturally and socially, offer them.
The teaching and expression of traditional British culture has been on the back foot since cultural relativity (the idea that all cultures are equal) has been brought in as a social habit by multiculturalism.
What Muslim and other immigrant children should be able to sample compulsorily, perhaps through a medium of special classes (available for everyone), is the best of British culture and values, including the ability to reason founded in the Christian enlightenment, and the, almost now lost, Victorian standard of decency and moral rectitude.
If we do not re-invigorate our country with the best of our traditions, including Victorian moral decency, there will be little incentive for those who have been inculcated with orthodox Islamic theology to integrate. The same point applies for assimilation of other ethnic minorities from less theologically rigid systems than Islam.
The benefit of espousing decent behaviour as a symbol of national pride would discourage increasing social problems of teenage drunkenness, and give immigrant children, afraid of the some widely acceptable wild teenage behaviour, a safer ground from which to socially interact.
