PALESTINIAN PRESIDENT ABBAS MARKS ANNIVERSARY BY ‘RENEWING PLEDGE’ TO MARTYRS, INCLUDING NAZI GRAND MUFTI
Palestinian Authority president Mahmoud Abbas, the supposed voice of “moderation” in the region, addressed an adoring crowd January 4th as he marked the anniversary of his political party, Fatah. To celebrate the occasion, Abbas “renewed his pledge” to martyrs from Hamas and other factions including famed WWII Nazi ally, Grand Mufti Muhammad Amin al-Husseini. Some might recall details about the Grand Mufti and his co-conspiracies to rid the Middle East of their Jewish inhabitants from my previous article on the Farhud, a brutal pogrom carried out in 1941 against the Jewish community in Iraq.
“On the anniversary of Fatah, we renew the pledge to our fortunate martyrs,” Abbas stated proudly.
“We pledge to continue on the path of the martyr brother Abu Ammar, and his comrades and brothers, the leaders from all the fighting factions – all the martyrs.”
Below is a transcript and video of Abbas’ speech, which aired on PA TV. The translations have been provided by MEMRI:
